Interested in protecting Northern Michigan’s rivers and streams? Join us for Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council’s Volunteer Stream Monitoring Fall Training!
This training will teach you how to monitor stream health and collect macroinvertebrates, small aquatic insects that help us measure water quality. No previous experience is necessary and all equipment is provided. Volunteers must be comfortable walking along uneven terrain and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
The training will be held on Sunday, September 20th from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. We will begin at the Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council office located at 426 Bay St in Petoskey for a presentation. Then, we will walk/drive over to the Bear River for the field portion.
Who Should Attend:
Anyone interested in freshwater protection! Volunteers must be comfortable walking along uneven terrain and working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Weather-appropriate clothing
Waterbottle
