Volunteer Planting at East Jordan Rain Garden

September 23 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Volunteer with Us: East Jordan Rain Garden Project

Help us plant a new rain garden in East Jordan! We’re looking for volunteers to spend a day outdoors planting and establishing a rain garden at the park at the corner of Maple and Mill Streets.

Rain gardens are a type of green infrastructure that capture and soak in stormwater, helping reduce runoff and keep pollutants out of nearby waterways. This project will create a useful demonstration of how simple, natural solutions can benefit both communities and local waters.

Project Details:

  • Located at Maple St. & Mill St., East Jordan
  • Wednesday, September 23rd from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
  • We’ll provide the plants, on-site guidance, and lunch!

What to Bring:

While we will have some tools available to share, please consider bringing your own favorite gardening tools from home. This will help make sure there are plenty of tools for everyone!

  • Outdoor work clothing
  • A water bottle
  • Sunscreen, hat, garden/work gloves
  • A hand trowel
  • A kneeling pad if desired

Funding for this project was provided by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) through its Section 319 Nonpoint Source Program.
