Over 31,000 pounds of trash collected from Michigan rivers, streams in ’23

Nearly a dozen organizations across the state received funding from EGLE to collect garbage from rivers and streams last year. Over 1,600 volunteers worked a collective of 3,699 hours to clean various bodies of water in the state. Our Water Resource Specialist, Anna Watson, comments on how much trash volunteers were able to pull from local rivers as well as the process of collecting it.
