Yesterday was a big day for clean water in Northern Michigan. Tip of the Mitt Local Policy Manager Anna McGlashen has been working with Torch Lake Township over the last few months to present a new time-of-transfer septic ordinance to protect our watershed from faulty septics leaching harmful pollutants into our waters.

After overwhelming support (and a lot of great questions!) from residents at last week’s public meeting, the Torch Lake Township board voted unanimously on July 18 to adopt the new ordinance—which will go into effect in 30 days.
