Description

This species is extremely drought resistant and is an important food source for larval butterflies. It is mostly found in meadows and fields with sandy soil. The small wildflower ranges in color from lavender to a blue-purple color. Although the flowers first bloom in early summer, they remain until fall, until the seeds start to ripen. The seeds also provide food for small birds and mammals.
