As we close another year of protecting and restoring the waters that make Northern Michigan home, we’d like to introduce you to three new members joining Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council’s Board of Directors. Each brings exceptional experience, a deep love for our region, and a shared commitment to ensuring that the lakes, rivers, and streams we cherish remain clean and vibrant for generations to come.
Patti Murdock joins the Board with a background in global logistics and small business leadership. After a 30-year career with Procter & Gamble and several years managing Howe Marine in Indian River, Patti now devotes her energy to protecting the waters of Mullett Lake, where she lives year-round. A dedicated advocate for sustainable infrastructure and water quality, Patti also serves on the board of the Mullett Area Preservation Society. Her blend of executive management experience and environmental passion makes her a valuable addition to the Watershed Council’s leadership.
Richard Saslow, our new Treasurer, brings more than four decades of experience in corporate law, governance, and board leadership. A University of Michigan Law School graduate, Richard has served as General Counsel and/or board member for both publicly traded and privately held companies, helping guide organizations with sound legal and financial insight. A lifelong angler, Richard’s love for Northern Michigan’s cold, clear trout streams fuels his dedication to conservation. Splitting time between Pleasant Ridge and East Jordan, he and his wife enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and connecting with their Six Mile Lake community. Richard’s expertise strengthens the Watershed Council’s work on the Executive and Finance Committees, helping our operations remain as steady as the waters we protect.
Rob Weick joins the Board with over 40 years of leadership in packaging and food science innovation. His career included senior roles with Tropicana, ConAgra Foods, and Campbell Soup Company, where he championed sustainability initiatives. A Michigan State University graduate in both Packaging Engineering and Food Science, Rob also mentored future engineers and scientists as a lecturer and advisor at MSU’s School of Packaging and School of Food Science. Now based in Boyne City, he brings a systems-level understanding of sustainability to the Council’s Development Committee, along with a personal passion for Lake Michigan, the Grand River, and all of Michigan’s waters.
Together, Patti, Richard, and Rob embody the spirit of stewardship that drives the Watershed Council’s mission. Their collective knowledge and commitment strengthen our capacity to protect Northern Michigan’s waters today and for the future. We’re honored to have them on board and look forward to the work we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
