This ordinance is groundbreaking and a model for other local units of government as it not only requires inspection of well and septic systems in the Township before any residential property is sold, it incorporates additional safeguards to address septic systems that pose the greatest risk to water resources. The ordinance requires inspections of properties within 500 feet of a water body and properties that have no record of a septic permit.
