Protecting Northern Michigan's Water Resources

Little Traverse Bay Watershed Advisory Committee

The Little Traverse Bay Watershed Protection Plan was approved by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality in 2007.   The goal of the plan is to protect and enhance the water quality and ecosystem integrity of Little Traverse Bay and its tributaries, to ensure all designated uses are restored and protected.
An Advisory Committee was formed to address concerns affecting the Little Traverse Bay Watershed. These concerns include non-point source pollution, such as stormwater and fertilizer runoff, and invasive species, to name a few. The Advisory Committee is a partnership between Emmet County, the City of Petoskey, the City of Harbor Springs, local township governments, Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, Little Traverse Conservancy,Emmet County Lakeshore Association, Walloon Lake Association, Conservation Resource Alliance, various government agencies, other non-profit organizations, and Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council.
